www.nanunanu.org - The facts.

The machine.

www.nanunanu.org ( aka goliath.nanunanu.org ) is the main machine for nanunanu.org at the moment, handling mail and being the web server. The machine currently runs FreeBSD 2.2.6, with apache for the web server. Specifications are as follows:

Motherboard: Intel Endeavour.
Processor: Intel Pentium @ 120 MHz.
Memory: 16 Megabytes. It would be nice to have more....donations? ;)
Storage: 1.2 Gigabyte EIDE Quantum hard disk and Goldstar Quad speed CD-ROM drive.

The web pages.

All the system pages for this site are written by Greg Gladwell, nothing very fancy but I hope they look presentable. Other credits include the main logo on the front page by Lau Tung Leng, who is owed many thanks indeed for his great artwork.

The name.

The domain.

The domain name nanunanu was thought up by myself and my friend Mat Bowyer. It was originally going to be our chosen name for the demon dial up connection we were intending to get. But fate intervened, as you will see in the next paragraph.

The hostname.

The hostname for this machine, goliath, comes from Mat's nickname on the net. Mat was killed in March '96 by a house fire that destroyed the house we were lodging in. I managed to escape, he did not...I miss him dearly. He was my best friend and the cl osest thing I've ever had to a brother. Much as civic buildings or other places are named after those who were famous and have died, the name of this machine is given in memory of my best friend - Matthew 'Goliath' Bowyer.
